The Santa Rita Rosso di Valtellina D.O.C. is sourced from mountainside vineyards outside of the town of Sondrio and slightly west overlooking the Adda River in Berbenno. It is fermented in stainless steel without any oak aging letting the complexities of Nebbiolo express itself. While light in body, the flavors are a complex mix of violets, red fruits, tobacco and tar with light tannins to define the lingering finish. This is a perfect wine with which to enjoy autumn’s harvest such as savory Ravioli with Pumpkin Stuffing or a steaming plate of Wild Field Mushroom Risotto as you envision yourself overlooking Lake Como with the Alps looming behind you.
